Photograph of Portmellon Cove near Valley Cottage B&B PortmellonEaster has passed with it’s inclement weather and we are now looking forward to blue skies and sunshine!

What a great time to come and explore the deserted beaches and glorious coastal walking before it gets too busy.

The famous Lost Gardens of Heligan and lesser known Caerhays Castle are both within a few miles and will soon be full of Rhododendrons and Azaleas, so come on down for a visit.

Robin forms part of the welcoming partyPhotograph of a robin perched on a black & white decoy duck at Valley Cottage B&B Portmellon

During the summer, whilst tidying the garden, we have noticed a very confident Robin. At the weekend, when we welcomed back Ray & Sheila from London, Robin came onto the patio to join in with the tea and cake, our guests were absolutely enthralled and took some lovely close up photographs.

Gorgeous, Talented and Cornish! (Ed’s not bad either)Picture of bunting in the harbour textile art print by Cat Rowe

Last weekend textile artist Cat Rowe from Redruth returned to stay with us, booked for 3 nights and stayed for 4 . We told them where the quietest beaches were, blessed with good weather, they relaxed and returned every day with beach treasure, inspiration for her coastal art.

This is just one example of her fabulous pictures, prints and cards. Check Cat out at:-www.textileillustration.co.uk

How lucky we werePhotograph of Primroses in the steps at Valley Cottage B&B Portmellon

We thoroughly enjoyed the Easter break, great weather,  lovely guests and congratulations to Mark & Lydia who got engaged whilst they stayed in our Garden Room.

 Primroses are wonderful

The primroses this year are just gorgeous, we even have some self seeded ones growing in the steps as you walk up to the house.

The sun is shining & the film crew have gone!Photo of low tide at Portmellon beach near Valley Cottage B&B Portmellon

During last week, a film crew took over the pub, car park and cove, they were blessed with beautiful weather, so witnessed Portmellon at it’s best.

We had a wonderful view of the solar eclipse on Friday from our garden, looking through a welding glass, this led to a very low tide at lunch time today and lots of people were out and about on the beach enjoying the glorious sunshine.
